DEMOCRATS REMAIN WEAK ON DEFENSE WHILE REPUBLICANS REBUILD THE MILITARY
KEY MESSAGE:
The House passed the largest, most modernized defense bill in American history — a record $1.5 trillion budget, a rebuilt Navy, higher pay for troops, and a secure border. Nearly every Democrat in the House voted no.
- President Trump’s 2027 budget request builds on last year's historic $1 trillion topline with a new $1.5 trillion defense budget. The President’s request is built around three priorities: re-establish deterrence, rebuild the military, and revive the warrior ethos.
- House Armed Services Chairman Mike Rogers: "The FY2027 NDAA (National Defense Authorization Act) strengthens our ability to defend ourselves and deter our adversaries by revitalizing our defense industrial base, investing in innovative technologies, and restocking the Arsenal of Freedom."
- The bill now heads to the Senate, before heading to President Trump’s desk to be signed into law.
President Trump and Republicans Strengthening America
House Democrats are now on the record opposing efforts to:
- Rebuild America's Navy and shipbuilding base by authorizing 18 new ships and fully funds the Battleship program and restores American maritime dominance after decades of decline.
- Restore the warrior ethos and finalize the President's restoration of the historic name "Department of War."
- Deliver a pay raise of 5–7% for our troops and appropriately compensate military members for the sacrifice and rigor of their service to the Nation.
- Secure the border and counter threats from China by backing President Trump’s border and counternarcotics missions and aims to keep sensitive American technology out of Beijing's hands.
- Fully fund Space Force programs, including next-generation missile-warning satellites supporting the Golden Dome for America, the President's homeland missile shield, along with modern, unmanned, AI-enabled platforms so America's military leads instead of playing catch-up.
Democrats Are Playing Politics With National Security
- Rep. Adam Smith smeared the NDAA as part of President Trump’s "ongoing fascist takeover" of the country despite admitting the NDAA is a "good solid bill.”
- This is why Democrats can't be trusted with the responsibility of keeping America safe; because they make it about their goals instead of protecting the American people.
- Republicans are focused on rebuilding the military, paying our troops what they've earned, and securing the border. Democrats are focused on stopping President Trump, even if it means standing in the way of a stronger, safer America.
- This is the most ambitious rebuild of the American military in a generation and Democrats are doing anything they can to stop it. Voters deserve to know which party is actually serious about national security.
