After driving submarines throughout the last years of the Cold War, I finished out my Navy career in the National Capitol area, where I worked in national nuclear security and counterterrorism. I continued for several years as a Federal official and then as a government contractor. During those years in the D.C. area, I developed a distaste for many of the functions and so-called experts within our Federal government.
My aunt was a Republican county official in Ohio in 1980 and she turned me into a lifelong fan of Ronald Reagan. At the time, I thought Reagan was too old and sort of foolish. My aunt was sort of goofy but she opened my eyes with an appeal to reason and experience. Now that I am older and sort of goofy, I hope and pray that I, too, can influence or persuade a nephew or niece to jump aboard the Trump Train in 2024." - John Weidner
